Gearing back up

Hey, there. It’s been a tumultuous couple of weeks. My parents have been struggling with health issues, my mom especially. I’ve just returned from PA after helping out there and I’m so grateful to my employer for the chance to be there with my family. While it’s hard to be so far away, things have settled down a bit now that my mom has come through her spinal surgery and is doing great in rehab. Now I need to get my head back into teaching, reading student work, re-engaging with American Sublime by Elizabeth Alexander. I’m really sorry I missed her reading/talk at our school last week. 😦

I also want/need/have to get back to the revisions to my book proposal and the creation of a new website that I’m really excited about. More to come in the next month or so! But I do find it hard to switch gears, to get out of caregiver mode and back into creative mode, to hear the voice inside my head, wondering, questioning, trying out new ideas, possibilities…
